A visit from the Denny Abby and Farmland Museum

Today we had a visit from a Victorian artefact expert. He showed us several household objects from 150 years ago. He grouped the objects so that we could guess who they might belong to in the Victorian house. We saw a Mother's evening bag, nightgown and hair straighteners and Grandad's pipe, inhaler and hearing trumpet. We enjoyed dressing in the outfits and especially liked wearing the girl's bonnet and boy's cap and waistcoat. We learnt what each object was made from and how to use it. It made us thankful for our toys and clothes today. However, nobody could resist the chip cutter and sausage maker as they looked such fun to cook with!
