Busy, busy, busy

We have had lots of fun this week continuing to explore what it might have been like to be a sailor on a ship many years ago.  The Cutty Sark prompted lots of questions about sea life and we had a lot of fun trying to make our own origami boats! It was tricky to fold the paper in all the right places.  One big problem on the ships seems to have been keeping the sailors healthy because fresh food was so difficult to get.  We followed instructions to make hardtack (ship's biscuits) but made sure ours did not get infested with maggots!  We have thought about our own eating habits and learnt lots about how to stay healthy.  In Literacy we have continued to find out about the clever way Julia Donaldson uses rhyme in her books.  We had a go ourselves and came up with some funny sentences! In maths we have been learning all about doubling and discovered that we can find lots of patterns in numbers when we look at doubles.
