Wow, we were so grateful to receive so many nets and buckets for our river dip. It made the activity so much fun. Thank you to all the families who sent things in.
We walked along the river and tried to stay quiet incase we spotted a bird or riverbank dweller. Then we took our spotter sheets, buckets, nets and got stuck in. The water was chilly but most of us kept it below our welly tops. We did not see a lot amongst the stones, just a few caddis fly. The ducks were entertaining though!
To finish off our trip we stopped and looked up river. We were just in time to see 2 bottles floating towards us. It was very exciting as they had notes in them from far off places. This gave us the ideas to write questions as much geography vocabulary as we could. We described our patch of river and asked questions about other areas. Then we threw the bottles in and they bobbed along.
We are now waiting for any responses from others down stream who discover our notes.
