The double decker coach was buzzing with excitement all the way to Hedingham Castle. Once we arrived the drizzle could not dampen our spirits as we started the walk up the hill to meet the Lady of the House. Lady Phillipa greeted us with her servants and we spent the morning exploring different aspects of castle life. The spiral staircases led us up and down the floors in the castle. We found out where the King and Queen would have dined when they visited and learned all about the different weapons and armour the soldiers would have needed to defend them. Lunch inside the castle followed and then our adventure continued with medieval music, archery and jousting. After saying goodbye to Lady Phillipa we began to make our way back to the coaches for the journey home. A tiring but amazing day, a fantastic start to our topic.
