The Victorian Postal Service

This week, Year 1 have been investigating what life in the Victorian age would have been like. We explored a Victorian manor and found out all about chamber pots and the lack of electricity! On Tuesday, we talked about the Victorian post. Did you know that the postman might visit your house up to 12 times a day? Or that the Victorians invented the letterbox? Fascinating!
We then wrote letters to Lord Westway (who has an enormous turnip in his garden, by the way) and volunteered to help him out. Finally, we addressed, stamped and posted our letters.
What a busy two days in Year 1!
