Victorian post

A few weeks ago we found out about the first penny stamps and how the post was delivered in the Victorian era. We were surprised that a man came and knocked on your door with every letter for your house, no matter what time of day it was.
Today we had our own parcel post problem.
We received a letter from PC Moss asking us to sort and weigh all the items from Bert's suitcase and send them back to London.
We had great fun balancing the scales with cubes or gram weights to find out how much each parcel weighed. After that, we used a chart to find out how many stamps to attach for each weight.
When the job was done we posted them off to London.
