Foundation stage have enjoyed working with year 1 today. We started off all together to find out about Small Knight. He was thrown into the job by his father overnight and sent off to fight a fierce dragon. We didn't think this was very fair and so we tried to think of things he could have done to be more prepared, after all he didn't even know what a dragon looked like!
The classes took turns to visit each teacher for a new activity. In red class, Miss Stinton had us all undertaking jobs that were fit for a page or squire training to be a knight. some of these jobs were fun and some would not be our first choice. We didn't think it was very fair that the squire would only get to eat the mouldy bread plate that the knight ate his dinner from!
A brush with fire breathing dragons was on the cards for us in green class. We made our own dragons which blew out flames when we blew into it. In orange class we were rewarded with a musical treat. The Page or Squire would have been allowed to play music as a reward. We listened to some lovely medieval music played on the harp and then had a go at making our own. We noticed that the sounds were louder if you had shorter strings.
An exciting time lay ahead in purple where we made our very own lances and competed as a team in a jousting competition. It was thrilling and we all cheered on our team mates.
The day was only complete however when a special visitor turned up. In full jousting attire Angus the Shetland pony arrived with a message for us. The message told us of a jousting Tournament coming up so maybe this will be interesting to Princess Daisy.
