Welcome

Welcome to Linton CE Infant School!

Children are at the heart of all we do, we are committed to achieving our best and providing a high quality early years education for all. It is important for everyone to feel happy and secure within our setting. After exploring our web site we hope you can identify with this.

We are a church school, which provide a nurturing environment where success is celebrated and difference is valued. The Christian ethos is of utmost importance and permeates everything we do and offer. The Church School Inspection in Nov 2007 states “The Christian ethos is evident throughout the inclusive school where every pupil is valued.....Their personal development is supported very well by the innovative and stimulating curriculum”

Our school caters for around 170 children between the ages of 4-7. We are a team of professional people who are very dedicated to the education of young children. It is our aim to ensure that children find learning irresistible yet purposeful. The curriculum takes a thematic approach. In our school, each week the children’s learning will be linked through a common theme, for example: bags, faces, sign and symbols. Each year group works on different themes unless it is one of our focus weeks when the whole school take on a joint topic. This allows the whole community to explore a common theme and learn together. Over the course of this year the whole school will see weeks when the focus will be on Pirates, Chinese New Year, Animation and Sports/Health week.

The class pages certainly give a flavour of what happens in our school. The children are learning but quite often think they are just playing, which is how we like it! So if you have ever been a parent who has asked the question “What have you done at school today?” and had the response “Nothing!” you can clearly see that this is not the case here.

Although children are at the heart of our school, the partnership with parents, and the links with the community are equally important and with the support these offer makes our school what it is.

Ofsted report (Oct 2007) affirms that what we aim to do is a success. It states “There are several reasons why pupils’ achievement is outstanding. The excellent curriculum inspires and interests them because it is well matched to their needs. ........Embedded within the ‘fun’ is a very strong emphasis on developing literacy, numeracy and information and communication technology skills. This contributes very positively to standards and provides pupils with an excellent foundation for the future.”

We update our website regularly and hope you find it interesting and informative. The children often visit the web site as part of their lesson and are really excited to read the guestbook so please write back to us with your comments too!

We are very proud of our school and the learning that happens here. If you want any further information or would like to visit, please contact us at the address below.
