What a challenge!

Harvest festival was a lovely start to our day.  We thought about all the people who help us to get food and shared some with people who do not have as much as they need.  When we got back to school Mrs Clark set us a challenge.  We needed to make butter for the whole school to have on the bread that year 2 were making for us.

Miss Stinton seemed to think we could make butter out of grass but we soon found out that we needed a cow to eat the grass and turn it into milk!  We enjoyed watching the milk change into butter as we shook it really hard in the jar.

We also used the milk to make milkshakes.  First we had to crush the berries and mix it in with the milk, we were excited to see it go pink! At the end of the day we had a delicious feast with the rest of the school.  Year 1 had made pumpkin soup to go with the bread and butter, yummy!

Some of us even planted grass seeds, if only we had a cow…
