Today we were sent a note by the Captain. He was ready to set sail for the Arctic but needed a northerly wind.
We jumped up and took out our newly made compasses to find out which way the wind was blowing.
Unfortunately the compass was not enough. Hunter suggested watching something blow along the floor and tracking which way it went. We took this idea and formulated a plan. We all made a windsock with steamers that danced in the wind and tested it with a fan.
Now for our compasses. It was a wet , gusty day so we could not all agree if it was a North wind or not.
We sent the Captain a request to wait another day to allow us to retest our bearings.
Check out the photos of our windy weather testers.
