I have just started my second 4 year term as a Foundation Governor. Foundation governors are responsible (alongside their other duties) for monitoring and promoting the church school ethos.
I have two sons, both at Linton Heights, and two girls in Purple Class. I am finding phonics much easier third time around! The provision of ITC/computing has changed beyond recognition in the last few years and of all the recent changes in the education system, I view this as the single most positive improvement. Our children are now taught concepts and developing skills that are directly relevant to our computing-dominated professional world. When the children learn about "debugging", "algorithm", and other computing terminology, they are building an understanding of technology that will be increasingly crucial in their adult lives.
I am also Scout Leader for 1st Linton Scouts. While it is important to understand our hi-tech world, it is also important not to forget all the virtues of our natural environment. The outside spaces at Linton Infants have improved markedly in the past few years. For any of the children who might join the Scouts, maybe, the new Foundation Stage outdoor kitchen will be good practise for when they cook in a real outdoor kitchen!
